How does drop-off work?
I’ll agree a day and time with you when you book. If you’re heading towards Chester for work, it’s easy to drop the car on the way.
What do motorway miles do to paint?
Spray in wet weather leaves a grimy film on the paint and glass, and in summer the front end picks up bugs. Bug splatter gets harder to shift the longer it’s left, so it’s best washed off soon.
Does parking outside matter?
Yes. Cars parked on the street or in big open car parks, like the ones at Cheshire Oaks, sit out in all weathers, and cars under trees get sap, pollen and bird droppings. Bird droppings are acidic and can etch into the clear coat if they’re left in the sun.
What about winter?
Gritted roads leave salt spray on the lower panels, arches and wheels. A proper clean to get it off, rather than leaving it until spring, keeps the finish from going dull.
Can you get swirls and light scratches out?
Often, yes. A machine polish takes out a lot of swirls and wash marks, and paint correction starts from £400. I’ll tell you honestly what will come out before you book.
What would you recommend?
I’ll look at the car first. Maintenance Care Valeting is from £120, and ceramic coatings start from £500 if you want motorway grime and bugs to wash off more easily.
