Where a lighter service is enough, that is what we recommend. The scope is defined clearly before work begins, with careful preparation and a finish worth maintaining afterwards.

The person behind the work
James
I’m James — Jay to family and friends — and my interest in car care started long before I established Jay’s Auto Detailing in 2013. As a child I walked around the neighbourhood with Turtle Wax shampoo and an old-fashioned car sponge, offering to wash cars. Later I worked on a car park my mum managed in Liverpool. That’s where the interest became serious, and I began teaching myself the trade.
Starting the business was a way to turn that into my livelihood. I fitted out a van for mobile work and kept learning. Volunteering at a body shop in Chester taught me more about paintwork and how to use a rotary polisher. Shortly afterwards I took on an indoor unit — the next step from mobile valeting towards more focused detailing work.
I also spent a full week in Newcastle training for my Ceramic Pro accreditation, building on what I’d learned through independent study and practical experience.
My standards matter more to me than a quick turnaround. I won’t rush a job to squeeze another booking in, and I won’t apply a coating over unprepared paint. The preparation deserves the time it takes.

I completed the international Ceramic Pro application training course in 2016 at their officially approved North East training centre, registration UK012/2016.
The training covers how these coatings behave, what preparation they need and where they are and are not appropriate — which is why the assessment comes before any recommendation to coat.
