Looking after cars in Christleton & Waverton
Christleton and Waverton sit side by side just outside Chester. Christleton has its village pond, Christleton Old Hall and rows of pretty cottages, and in Waverton the Shropshire Union Canal runs right through, with its bridges and towpaths.
The lanes round here are hard on a car, though. Farm mud, pollen and road grime build up on the paint, and I can get it clean and protected again.
Getting to my studio
My studio is in Tattenhall, about 10 to 20 minutes’ drive from Christleton and Waverton. Waverton is usually about 10 to 15 minutes away and Christleton about 15 to 20, with a quick run south-east along the A41 from either village.

How do I get to the studio?
From either village, get on the A41 and head south-east, then turn off for Tattenhall. The postcode is CH3 9BD. From Waverton it’s about 10 to 15 minutes, and from Christleton about 15 to 20.
How does drop-off work?
I’ll agree a day and time when you book. It’s close enough to drop it off, get a lift home or to work and come back for it later.
What’s hard on paint round here?
The lanes between the villages run through farmland, so mud and grit get thrown up the sides of the car. Narrow lanes mean hedges and verges close to the car, and they leave light scratches on doors and mirrors.
What about parking outside?
The Shropshire Union Canal runs through both villages and on past Tattenhall, Beeston and Bunbury, and there are plenty of trees along the way. If the car’s parked outside under trees, you’ll get bird droppings, sap and pollen on it, mostly in spring and summer. Bird droppings are acidic and can etch into the clear coat if they’re left in the sun, so wipe them off gently when you see them.
And in winter?
The A41 gets gritted, so salt spray builds up on the lower panels and wheels. A proper clean to get it off before it sits there for weeks is worth doing, especially on a car you plan to keep.
